20 Million @ Samsung Galaxy S II sold in 10 months!!

The Samsung Galaxy S II has grown from a single phone to a diverse family of mobiles in all shapes and sizes. It took Samsung about three months to ship 5 million units and another two months for sales to reach 10 million.
Now, sales of the outgoing Samsung flagship droid have reached 20 million units across the world. It launched 10 months ago, meaning it took five months to sell both the first and the second ten million units.
The sales didn’t slow down probably because new modifications kept coming out with screen sizes reaching from up to 4.65" from the original 4.3" and with 4G LTE connectivity thrown in for good measure.
Another interesting statistic - the Samsung Galaxy S (which boasts a total of 22 million units sold so far) took seven months to reach 10 million sales, two months longer than the S II.
It was a good run, but the time is coming for it to retire. The S II successor won't be unveiled at the MWC next week, but we expect to see it on March 15 or around that time.

If you live in Germany then I have got a good news for you. Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus N for Germany, and the design of the tablet is different from the original version launched by T-Mobile USA because of the Apple/Samsung patent war, and Samsung had to remake a new version to bypass Apple’s design patent.
About the specs, the tablet is 9.9mm thin, it comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 7 inch display (1024 x 600), TouchWiz UX UI with Android Honeycomb, 3.2MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an MicroSD card support, and a huge 4000 mAh battery. The tablet will receive Ice Cream Sandwich within few months, so stay tuned.
It will be available in Germany starting this month in two beautiful colors; pure white and metallic gray. You will be able to get the Wi-Fi-only version for €499 , whereas the 3G one will cost you €569.
So German readers, are you planning to grab one later this month?

Samsung Says @ its the No.1 Smartphone Brand in India!!

When I was checking out some news sites , I noticed an unusual thank you banner and the Samsung logo and decided to check it out. It took me to a landing page which is a thank you page for Samsung mobile users. Samsung says that it is currently the No.1 Smartphone brand in India according to the promo. It is quoting a GfK nielsen India Retail Store Audit Report for mobile phones in 50,000+population towns in November 2011. Samsung claims to have a market share of 37.9% in Smartphones in that month for that particular segment.
We all know the Galaxy S2 sold like hot cakes ever since launching in June 2011. Now the Galaxy Note is also gaining some popularity. Now Samsung is tapping the entry level Smartphone space with the Galaxy Y. Symbian has been the most popular operating system for several years now but with Nokia going with Windows Phone , Symbian has been losing market share pretty fast but Nokia is still the leader in the Indian mobile space in terms of overall market share.
Dear Samsung,we can see the Galaxy Nexus in the promo above but not in stores? WHY?

Samsung @ Cancells 32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus

Samsung has discontinued its 32 gig GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus. This information is based on online retailer Expansys's web page and a tip from "Corey" in the XDA developers blog.
Expansys's product page of the Galaxy Nexus 32 GB HSDPA+ lists the device as discontinued and suggests the 16 GB variant instead.
The Galaxy Nexus is at a disadvantage by not offering additional storage options and lacks mass storage mode. So the only way to have the device with north-of-16 GB storage was to buy the 32 GB version.
In other news the 16 GB Galaxy Nexus for Verizon could be coming in White to the US carrier. Pricing is rumored to be around $199 on a two-year commitment. The device has already graced the UK shores.

Samsung Announces @ Galaxy Tab 2 with Android 4.0 ICS!!

Call us confused. Unless we're missing something, Samsung has installed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on a chubbier, slower version of the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and rebranded it the Galaxy Tab 2. I hate to open a post with such an accusatory tone, but I've read (and reread) today's press release and that's precisely what I see comparing the specifications between each "generation."
The Galaxy Tab 2 shaves some bulk off the original 2010 design, measuring 10.5mm thick and weighing 344g (down from 11.98mm and 380g), but it's a tad thicker than September's Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (9.96mm). Assuming it uses the same chip architecture, the Galaxy Tab 2 also downgrades the Tab 7.0 Plus' 1.2GHz processor to 1.0GHz (which is in line with the original Galaxy Tab 7.0).
Other innards are virtually identical to the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. This includes a 7-inch WSVGA (1024x600) PLS TFT touchscreen, a 3-megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera (downgraded from the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus' 2-megapixel front camera), 1GB of RAM, and 8GB to 32GB of storage (another 32GB via microSD). Select models have 3G support alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.

Along with Google's latest snack-themed OS, the Galaxy Tab 2 will feature Samsung's new AllShare Play service, which lets you stream multimedia content between compatible devices. Neither piece of software is enough to justify a new model and the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is expected to get ICS sometime this spring anyway -- presumably around the time the Galaxy Tab 2 hits shelves.
The only way we can make sense of this: the Galaxy Tab 2 will be priced low enough to compete with the Kindle Fire (despite lacking Amazon's library). Unfortunately, the company hasn't shared official international pricing yet, but PCWorld reports that Samsung Sweden claims the Wi-Fi model will cost €270 (roughly $350). SammyHub reports even higher figures at ~$450 with a $100 premium for 3G. Hopefully Samsung clarifies its plans for the Galaxy Tab 2 at Mobile World Congress in two weeks.

Apple loses @ Against Galaxy Tab 10.1N!!

Dismissing Apple's attempted injunctions, a Duesseldorf court has cleared the modified Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N for sale in Germany. The decision comes after several rulings against Samsung in a series of bitter patent suits. Apple succeeded in blocking the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 in September along with the smaller Galaxy Tab 8.9 in January. It was determined both resembled the iPad too closely.
Hoping to dodge the injunctions in November, Samsung prepared a tweaked version of its tablet called the Galaxy Tab 10.1N with a more pronounced metallic rim, relocated speakers as well as other minor adjustments to change the look and feel of its device. Unsatisfied with the changes, Apple quickly responded by filing additional injunctions to ban the updated device. That demand was rejected today.
"The court has denied Apple's request for a preliminary injunction and the Galaxy Tab 10.1N remains available to consumers in Germany. Samsung will continue to take all appropriate measures, including legal action, to ensure continued consumer access to our innovative products," Samsung said. Despite its enthusiasm, today's ruling only blocks a preliminary injunction and the 10.1N could be banned later.
"It's important to understand that today's decision is merely the denial of a preliminary injunction. In parallel to all those efforts to have different Samsung tablets banned as a result of fast-track proceedings, Apple continues to assert four different design-related rights against ten Samsung smartphones and five Samsung tablets," writes Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents, a mobile patent blog. Mueller also notes that today's ruling could prove useful for Motorola, which is in a similar quarrel with Apple over the Xoom.

Rumor @ Galaxy S III is 7mm thin, has quad-core CPU!!

Although Samsung's Galaxy S III won't appear at Mobile World Congress at the end of February, the device is expected to hit shelves in the first half of 2012. According to South Korea's Electronic Times News, the next-generation Galaxy S will be one of the thinnest smartphones to date and it'll supposedly arrive in May -- later than the previously-speculated April launch and more in line with the Galaxy S II's anniversary.
If the rumored info is accurate, Samsung's upcoming flagship will measure a mere 7mm thick, roughly 1.5mm thinner than the Galaxy S II, 2.3mm thinner than Apple's iPhone 4S and a hair slimmer than the Droid Razr. To achieve such a trim profile, the company is reportedly using components that are 10 to 20% thinner than standard parts, including the printed circuit board, connectors and miscellaneous chips.
Inside its diminutive shell, the handset will pack a quad-core processor -- a first for Samsung -- along with 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera and support for LTE networks. It'll also have a HD Super AMOLED Plus display and it'll run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Separate rumors from late January suggest the Galaxy S III will carry a 12MP camera and 64GB of storage.
ET News notes that if the Galaxy S III's camera is as thick as its predecessor's, it will likely protrude from the phone. If we understand the translation right, Samsung hopes to ship 30 million of its next-gen device and its primary goal is to defeat the iPhone 5. Not only does Samsung want its highest-end Galaxy S III to outshine Apple's upcoming handset, it wants to offer more variety with up to seven iterations.

Hope the Valentines will enjoy gifting to their loved ones.
“After much speculation, we are pleased to announce the availability of the Galaxy Nexus White which follows the great reception the phone has received since it was launched back in November” Samsung UK Telecoms Executive Simon Stanford said this morning. ”One of the things we at Samsung pride ourselves on is the choice we offer customers, and we’ve enjoyed huge success to date by introducing white variants of our most popular models to our product portfolio.”

Galaxy Nexus introduces new innovations such as Face Unlock, which uses facial recognition to unlock the phone.

Nokia, Samsung and Apple @ led mobile shipments in 2011

Nokia retained its title as the world's biggest mobile phone vendor in 2011, followed by Samsung and Apple, according to a report from market research firm IDC. Overall, the world mobile phone market grew by 6.1% year-on-year in the fourth quarter, which is faster than analysts had expected but slower compared to the third quarter and also compared to the average 11.1% growth for the whole year. During the fourth quarter of the year, Nokia shipped 113.5 million handsets, down from 123.7 million during the same quarter a year ago. Samsung closed in shipping 97.6 million devices, up from 80.7 a year ago, and third-place Apple doubled its output from 16.2 million to 37 million during the quarter, pushing ahead of LG Electronics and Chinese vendor ZTE with 17.7 and 17.1, respectively.
Unsurprisingly, feature phones still make up the majority of shipments worldwide, which is largely how Nokia has managed to stay on top, relying heavily on Asia and South America. But consumer interest in feature phones is declining while cheap smartphones are beginning to make inroads in all markets. Looking at the whole year Nokia conquered 27% of the market while Samsung holds a 21.3% share. With 93 million units shipped -- 37 million of which were sold in Q4 2011 alone -- Apple managed to grab 6% of the market. That's significantly behind the current leaders but it's no small feat considering the California-based firm only sells smartphones. They're probably not losing any sleep over this ranking either, given that the company still sucks up the majority of the world's mobile phone profits as it is.

Neowin @ Samsung Series 9 notebook Review!!

Neowin has published a last minute before Christmas review of the Samsung Series 9, which they claim is easily one of the most stunning laptops they've ever laid eyes upon, especially in the Windows PC market. Beautifully designed, super thin, and with the performance to back it up. This is the first time a company has built a real MacBook Air competitor, but does it stack up? Is it good enough?
Design
Usually we wouldn't rant and rave about design, but the Series 9 really deserves us stopping and mentioning how elegant it is. When you pick up this laptop, it does not feel cheap. The "Duralumin" based material that encloses the laptop is super light, and cool to the touch, and just feels right. The laptop's curves are in all the right places, and it's incredibly thin. It's about the same thickness as an iPhone 4S.
The thin edges are sharp, which makes it feel fantastic in the hand. There's also more than meets the eye to the Series 9. It's got a backlit keyboard that automatically senses when it's needed and the ports are tidily hidden away on the side of the laptop with flaps, which allows Samsung to pack a few extra ports in.
