20 Million @ Samsung Galaxy S II sold in 10 months!!

The Samsung Galaxy S II has grown from a single phone to a diverse family of mobiles in all shapes and sizes. It took Samsung about three months to ship 5 million units and another two months for sales to reach 10 million.
Now, sales of the outgoing Samsung flagship droid have reached 20 million units across the world. It launched 10 months ago, meaning it took five months to sell both the first and the second ten million units.
The sales didn’t slow down probably because new modifications kept coming out with screen sizes reaching from up to 4.65" from the original 4.3" and with 4G LTE connectivity thrown in for good measure.
Another interesting statistic - the Samsung Galaxy S (which boasts a total of 22 million units sold so far) took seven months to reach 10 million sales, two months longer than the S II.
It was a good run, but the time is coming for it to retire. The S II successor won't be unveiled at the MWC next week, but we expect to see it on March 15 or around that time.

Rumor @ Amazon prepping Kindle Fire 2 for Q2 release!!

Following up on analyst speculation a week ago, China Times is now reporting that Amazon is indeed exploring alternative size and manufacturing options for the next wave of Kindle Fire tablets set for release sometime this summer.
Although the specifications haven’t been finalized according to the report, a 10-inch prototype tablet from Foxconn could be under consideration. Supply chains are said to be shipping sample parts next month with mass production to start in May or June. Such a schedule could set Amazon up for a launch sometime this summer or in the fall.
Based on an iSuppli teardown of the Kindle Fire a few months ago, we know that Amazon is selling their current tablet at a small loss. As such, profit from the iPad rival comes via Amazon’s vast content library which is something that the company would like to address with their next release. In contrast, Apple’s iPad 2 has an estimated total bill of materials of $323.25 for a 32GB CDMA model which the company sells for $729.
China Times says that in an effort to reduce manufacturing costs, Amazon will be hand-selecting and approving components for the Kindle Fire’s successor(s). Engadget notes that this task was previously done by Quanta, one of several part suppliers that Amazon utilizes. It’s unlikely that Amazon would use cheaper quality or slower components in their next device, but perhaps they can negotiate better supplier pricing or find equally as good components for less.

LG Officially @ Announces the Optimus Vu!!

We've seen this one before in a teaser video and then photographed alongside its arch nemesis, the Galaxy Note. But LG has now officially launched the Optimus Vu in Korea and it comes with everything we have heard so far.
For starters, you get a 5-inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 resolution, which gives it an aspect ratio of 4:3. The display has a pixel density of 256 PPI, which is just short of Galaxy Note's 285 PPI.
Due to the 4:3 aspect ratio, the Optimus (90.4mm) Vu is wider than the Galaxy Note (83mm), which will make it even more difficult to handle. It is marginally thinner (8.5mm) than the Note (9.7mm) but that's not going to matter much when you hold it in your hand.
Other than that the Optimus Vu has a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor with Adreno 220 GPU, 32GB internal memory, 8 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 1.3 megapixel front camera, LTE, HDMI, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and T-DMB and a 2,080 mAh battery. The phone will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but will soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Optimus Vu will be available on SK Telecom and LG+ carriers in South Korea in early March. Pricing details are as yet unavailable.

Samsung Says @ its the No.1 Smartphone Brand in India!!

When I was checking out some news sites , I noticed an unusual thank you banner and the Samsung logo and decided to check it out. It took me to a landing page which is a thank you page for Samsung mobile users. Samsung says that it is currently the No.1 Smartphone brand in India according to the promo. It is quoting a GfK nielsen India Retail Store Audit Report for mobile phones in 50,000+population towns in November 2011. Samsung claims to have a market share of 37.9% in Smartphones in that month for that particular segment.
We all know the Galaxy S2 sold like hot cakes ever since launching in June 2011. Now the Galaxy Note is also gaining some popularity. Now Samsung is tapping the entry level Smartphone space with the Galaxy Y. Symbian has been the most popular operating system for several years now but with Nokia going with Windows Phone , Symbian has been losing market share pretty fast but Nokia is still the leader in the Indian mobile space in terms of overall market share.
Dear Samsung,we can see the Galaxy Nexus in the promo above but not in stores? WHY?

Samsung @ Cancells 32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus

Samsung has discontinued its 32 gig GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus. This information is based on online retailer Expansys's web page and a tip from "Corey" in the XDA developers blog.
Expansys's product page of the Galaxy Nexus 32 GB HSDPA+ lists the device as discontinued and suggests the 16 GB variant instead.
The Galaxy Nexus is at a disadvantage by not offering additional storage options and lacks mass storage mode. So the only way to have the device with north-of-16 GB storage was to buy the 32 GB version.
In other news the 16 GB Galaxy Nexus for Verizon could be coming in White to the US carrier. Pricing is rumored to be around $199 on a two-year commitment. The device has already graced the UK shores.

HTC Endeavor @ Specs leaked before MWC 2012!!

We have all been hearing about the super phone from HTC called Endeavor which is going to be showcased at MWC this year, well the specs of this device seems to be leaked by the guys at MoDaCo, and you will not be disappointed!
As we had expected it will be running a quadcore nVidia Tegra 3 processor, with 1 GB of RAM and loads of power. Paul from MoDaCo also says that this device will not only be great in build quality but also really really thin, well that is the fashion now. It is also being said that the device will not include a microSd card slot just like the Galaxy Nexus but all the devices will have a standard 32 GB internal memory.
HTC Endeavor specifications:
  • Tegra 3 quadcore processor (nVIDIA AP33 1.5GHz / XMM6260)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFI (2.4GHz/5GHz)
  • 32 GB internal memory
  • 4.7: HD 720p screen (Super LCD)
  • 8MP rear camera with backlit sensor and LED Flash
  • 1.3MP front camera
  • 1080p video recording

That’s quite a list of specs!! This will surely be an interesting device and right on top, maybe even better than the Galaxy Nexus. like the Galaxy Nexus the Endeavor is said to have on screen navigation buttons. Also it is being said that by the time this device gets shipped it will come with Android 4.0.5 out of the box. Well this clearly looks like a promising device, stay tuned as we go live at MWC for more news about the HTC Endeavor.

White Nokia Lumia 900 @ Now Available for Pre-Orders!!

While AT&T still has not officially announced a launch date or pricing for its 4G LTE-capable Nokia Lumia 900 that debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month, Internet-retailer Negri Electronics is now accepting pre-orders for a white variant of the Lumia 900. AT&T and Nokia had said at CES that the Lumia 900 will be available either in black or cyan, and it appears that the white GSM version that’s up for pre-order will lack an important feature found on the U.S. locked version to AT&T: 4G LTE network support. As such, the white import will only function on 3G bands.
As 4G LTE offers speeds up to ten times faster than 3G as advertised by both AT&T and Verizon Wireless in the U.S., lacking LTE support may be a deal breaker for some. Additionally, the Lumia 900 is said to be launching with tethering or Internet sharing capabilities out of the box, a feature where faster 4G LTE speeds will be more useful.

Negri is pricing the phone at $650 unlocked.
AT&T is speculated to be launching the 4G LTE Lumia 900 in March with an aggressive price of just $99 with a two-year contract.
The white Lumia 900 was leaked before and in the past it’s been speculated that Nokia will bring the phone to other parts of the world outside the U.S. without 4G LTE support.
The Lumia 900 has a unibody polycarbonate shell with a minimalist and attractive design, a flat Gorilla Glass AMOLED touchscreen with Nokia’s Clear Black Display technology and no PenTile technology that should lead to crisper displays, and a single-core 1.4 GHz processor with a very capable Carl Zeiss optics with a widescreen large sensor camera. The device also supports a wide-angle front-facing camera for self-portraits and video chats.

HTC to Introduce @ Beats Streaming Media Service?

HTC is hoping to leverage its $300 million partnership with Beats Audio to regain lost ground in the race for smartphone dominance as it is rumored that the smartphone-maker is preparing to launch a streaming music service. Details are scarce right now on how the service will work or what features will be included, but it could help HTC differentiate its smartphone offering from stiff competition at the high-end against Samsung and Motorola Mobility and on the low-end by new Chinese smartphone entrants like ZTE and Huawei.
HTC wouldn’t be the first to introduce a streaming music service, if that’s the direction the company is headed in. Motorola had introduced MotoCast and ZumoCast, which allows customers to stream the music–along with videos and other files–form their computer’s hard drive at home or work to their phones, giving them access to all the content they need without having to worry about the amount of storage on their phones. Nokia, on the other hand, has introduced streaming music in a different form thanks to Nokia Radio Mix on the company’s new Windows Phone 7 Lumia handsets. The service is still awaiting the final approval from studios and record labels in the U.S., but allows users to create customized playlists on the Internet for free. Additionally, unlike Pandora, users can also download content to play at a later time where there is no Internet connection.
HTC had announced its partnership with Beats Audio last year, and the company has been working to get Beats Audio profiles and sound technology into more smartphones. In the U.S., the HTC Rezound is the first Beats Audio device and features a pair of Beats earphones. In the past, HTC had relied on audio partnerships from SRS Wow, Dolby Labs, and others to offer differentiation for its smartphones. The Rezound is a 4G LTE Android smartphone with a high definition 720p display.

HTC has ambitions on bringing Beats Audio integration to Windows Phone as well, but that will be dependent on Microsoft to loosen up restrictions for the platform.
Another venue that HTC could be headed in is to create a digital store front and streaming service, like Google Music, iTunes and iTunes Cloud, and Amazon MP3 with Amazon Cloud Player. This way, HTC could make additional revenue from the content being sold. The company already has a movies store in the form of HTC Watch.
Having its own separate storefront may also create brand loyalty among HTC phone owners as they may become tied to the ecosystem. This way, HTC smartphone owners may not feel as compelled to switch to a different manufacturer as their digital content would be locked to an HTC handset.
The service is speculated to be announced at Mobile World Congress.
In addition to the streaming Beats service, HTC is also rumored to debut a tablet and a number of new smartphones at Mobile World Congress.
